    I’m so glad I found you! I have read resources on the “Mediterranean” diet which include instruction to eat fat free cheese and other processed foods. No, thank you! I’m grateful to you for authentic advice. I am also Orthodox and preparing for Lent, so I will be using your recipes.

    Hi Elena,
    Coming from New-Zealand we are in our summer opposite for seasonal vegetables. Are the recipes in seasonal order or do I just look for ingredients which are for summer.

    Hi ! I am as wondering if ezekial b the ad can be used inst ad of the barley rusk bc I cannot find barley wheat flour anywhere

      Hi Barbara, I have not tried with ezekial flour, but you can use just regular whole grain flour.

    I’ve just come across your website and I’m already hooked. I live in UK and our diet here is dreadful, similar to US. I’ve started using your recipes and they are wonderful and simple and filling. May I ask what type of bread you would recommend please as a lot of our bread is highly processed and unhealthy?

    Hi Elena I am not particularly fond of the taste of goat cheese can you suggest a substitute that will work well and I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have read the Mediterranean Diet is good to help reduce inflammation is this really possible I really need to lose at least 60 lbs. and not just the inflammation but discomfort and back pain seem to immobilize me and yes I am looking to find some good exercise video’s I can incorporate into my daily routine I never was overweight until menopause now it’s a battle.

      Hi Brenda, There are different types of non-cow cheeses. Feta is mostly sheep’s milk cheese, I would recommend trying a Greek brand and see how you like it. The Mediterranean diet is anti-inflammatory so it will help.

    I would like to start eating a Mediterranean diet and to get my family to do this way of eating also. How would you suggest we start eating a Mediterranean diet.     where would you suggest we have Greek Easter dinner? we will be on Crete, but haven’t decided where. What do you suggest?
    We are 3 adults, one teen and a toddler (!)

      Julia,
      Easter is a great time to be in Greece. There will be plenty of roasted lamb, and most villages and towns will roast lambs in the main squares. But any tavern will also be serving the traditional lamb as well. So I would just reserve beforehand.

    Hi, Elena:
    My wife and I adopted a Mediterranean way of eating over 13 years ago. For the longest we have embraced a southern Italian approach to this “diet”, but over the last 3 or 4 years we’ve begun to appreciate the traditional Greek (Cretan ) way.
    Thanks for such a comprehensive, easy to read site. If you ever put out a cookbook, we’re on it.

          There is not that much out there in regard to a Cretan diet guide, but thee is a book by Nikos Psilakis, it is an older book, if you find that , it includes authentic Cretan recipes
